New Administrator Appointed
To provide pastoral ministry and leadership for the people of St. Alphonsus-St.Clement, Fr. Zbigniew Grankowski, priest within your Family of Parishes, will assume administration for the parish. Fr. Grankowski will continue to reside at St. Barbara parish and also provide administration and ministry to this parish in the same role as Family priest/Full-time priest support. Fr. Grankowski, Fr. Michael Nkachukwu, or if needed, another delegated priest, will be available for liturgical and sacramental needs throughout the week and on the weekends.
I also take this opportunity to thank Fr. Terrence Kerner for his service to your parish over the past few years and his faith-filled dedication as a priest of Jesus Christ for the Archdiocese of Detroit for well over 50 years. Please join me in praying for him as he enters Senior priest status.
The Archdiocesan restructuring process is scheduled to be fully implemented in July 2027, at which time other changes to parishes and priest assignments will occur. These immediate changes will provide all parishes within your Family with appropriate and available pastoral care from our limited number of priests.
I appreciate your patience, your prayers, and your cooperation as we move forward in the process.
St. Alphonsus and St. Clement, pray for us!
Fr. Tim Birney
Vicar General/Moderator of the Curia.
Fr. Grankowski would like to meet with all the St. Alphonsus – St. Clement parishioners on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Church to present his vision for the parish. He plans to con-celebrate the 9:00 AM Mass before meeting with the parishioners.
