Music Ministry
St. Alphonsus-St. Clement Music Ministry
St. Alphonsus-St. Clement Music Ministry exists to glorify God and inspire the faithful through sacred music. Rooted in the liturgical traditions of the Church, we serve to deepen the prayer experience, lead congregational worship, and foster a spirit of reverence, unity, and joy. With hearts open to the Holy Spirit, we strive to be instruments of God’s love, lifting voices and souls to Heaven through song.
Fall 2025 Update to the Mass Ordinary
The Holy Name of Jesus Glory to God, composed by Dr. Norah Duncan IV, through-composed (i.e., there is not a Gloria “refrain”) rendering offers harmonic and rhythmic interest. The trumpet is optional, but its use brings a lovely, festive color to the sound which we will hear at Easter 2026.
Moving to the Gospel Acclamation & Eucharistic Acclamations which are taken from Unity Mass, composed also by Dr. Norah Duncan IV, this Mass Ordinary holds a special place in my heart when I was a volunteer musician at Christ the King Parish in Detroit, MI back in August 2011 till July 2018. The congregation, during the time, loved this Mass Ordinary & I hope you will too. Musical genres abound in this eclectic Mass setting from Norah Duncan, IV. From the early American character of the Gospel Acclamation to the gentle lyricism of the Lamb of God, this variety of styles comes together beautifully into an inspiring setting that has the power to unite the most diverse assembly.
